Chicago Volunteer Experience

Chicago was an amazing opportunity for the volunteers to work on some projects that helped refugees and poverty stricken people. Our group helped a Congolese church upgrade their facility by building classrooms that would get their ESL and after school programs going again. We also helped another ministry with a pilot rooftop garden project using aeroponics. Aeroponics are gardens built with no dirt so that they can be placed on the roofs and maintained by the people in the buildings, since so many of the families in the area are refugees and live in food deserts they do not have access or the means to buy quality food. Both of these projects will impact and build up the families of the community with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs for years to come.
