The Díaz Family
Moisés and Evelyn and their three daughters. On a single store-worker’s income, a safe home for their growing girls had long been out of reach.
La Carpio, Costa Rica · March 2025
Trip theme: “Be the Light” · in partnership with Homes of Hope
The story
La Carpio is one of the most densely populated and underserved communities outside San José — a place where safe housing can change the entire trajectory of a family’s life.
In March 2025, sixty-three volunteers from the 7 Figure Foundation traveled to Costa Rica and partnered with Homes of Hope and local community members to build three homes. Working side by side with the families themselves, the team raised houses that will provide safety, dignity, and a foundation for a brighter future.
Beyond the construction, the trip created powerful connections between volunteers and the community — the kind of bond that forms when people come together to give everything they have for someone they’ve just met.
The homes built here represent more than shelter. They represent hope, partnership, and the lasting impact of generosity.
Meet the families
Behind every number is a name. These are the families who received the keys to a home of their own.
Moisés and Evelyn and their three daughters. On a single store-worker’s income, a safe home for their growing girls had long been out of reach.
Zeidy holds the household together while her husband Jairo looks for work. Their new home shelters their children and Zeidy’s mother, who lives with them and needs extra care.
Karen is studying while raising three boys — including a baby just eight months old. A stable home means everything for a family starting fresh.
