The eastern Kentucky community suffered two major floods within 18 months – the first in the spring of 2021 and the second in the summer of 2022. Many families had just recovered from the previous flood when their home was flooded again. While the flood of July 2022 has been declared a “thousand-year flood,” that does not mean it won’t happen again for a thousand years. In fact, this region has seen numerous “unprecedented” rain events in recent years. The Housing Development Alliance has secured funding for long term recovery efforts including building new houses and repairing damaged houses, but they need hands to help with the building. We bring the labor, they bring everything else. We will be partnering with one of our favorite organizations, Homes of Hope, to have an amazing 2 day, international home building experience. Each home build takes two full working days or a total of 16 hours. It takes approximately 15 people (ages 15 and older) to build a house. This is a great experience to bring your whole family or your team to have an amazingly memorable experience changing another family’s life!
